Cylinder Break Tracking

This feature allows you to manage the cylinder break schedule, reminders and cylinder samples.

How to access this feature

To set up your cylinder break types, use the Configuration tab on the main menu at the top of the screen, click on Quality Control Setup, then Cylinder Break Types (Figure 1 below).

View and Manage Cylinder Break data 

To view and manage cylinder break data, click on Quality Control tab on the main menu at the top of the screen, click on Cylinder Break Tracking (Figure 2 below).

Cylinder Break Type Setup

  • Navigate to the configuration page for Cylinder Break Types using the menu (Figure 1).
  • Click Add New record or the pencil icon to edit an existing record (Figure 3).
  • The Name, Plant & Strength Type are required. The combination of the name and plant must be unique (Figure 5).
  • Include on Report – If checked, indicates if a Cylinder Break Type should show up on the Cylinder Break Tracking grid.
  • Show Reminder – If checked, will highlight breaks that are late on the Cylinder Break Tracking grid.
  • Remind After X Days – Indicates how long after the pour should the reminder be shown.
  • Group with Previous – Will group the column on the Cylinder Break Tracking grid with the previous column for showing reminders and averages. This should be applied to breaks of the same type and age. For example, all of the 24 hour breaks should be grouped together.
  • Group Average – If checked, an average will be calculated for the group.
  • Group Average Title – The column heading for the group of break types on the Cylinder Break Tracking grid.
  • Order By – The order of break types as they appear in this list and on the Cylinder Break Tracking grid. Out of order break types could disrupt the reminder highlights and group averages.
  • Active – Indicates if the break type is active.

Break Tracking

  • Navigate to the Cylinder Break Tracking page for Cylinder Break Types using the menu (Figure 2).
  • Click the Add New button to add a new Batch (Figure 6).
  • Click the Pencil icon to edit a Batch (Figure 6).
  • Click the Hammer icon to enter Cylinder Break Details (Figure 6).
  • Overdue break details are highlighted in yellow (Figure 7).

Batches

Add a new batch by clicking Add New on the Cylinder Break Tracking page (figure 6 above). Edit by clicking the Pencil icon. A batch is required for adding the break details below. The Supervisor, Team Lead, Pre Pour Inspector, and Post Pour Inspector will automatically fill in if the values are entered for the bed (see purple highlighted Figure 8).  The Batch, Load, Release Strength, Design Strength, Concrete Temperature, Air Temperature, Slump, and Spread will automatically fill in from the Concrete Log values (see blue highlighted Figure 8). The Cast Date will be used to fill in the Sample Date in the Break Details (see green highlighted Figure 8).

Break Details

  • Click the Hammer icon to enter break details on the Cylinder Break Tracking page (Figure 5).
  • Click the Add new record button to add break details for the batch (Figure 9).
  • Select the Break Type
  • The Sample Date will be automatically filled in from the Batch (Green Box, Figure 10).
  • The Break Date will be automatically filled using the Sample Date and adding the number of Reminder days for the Break (Orange Box, Figure 10).
  • Select the Shear Type
  • Enter any measurements you wish to track. 
    • The area will be calculated using the average of the diameters (Blue Box Figure 10). 
    • The Compressive Pounds field is displayed on the Break Tracking grid and used to calculate averages (Figure 10).
    • The PSI is calculated using the area and compressive pounds (Purple Box Figure 10).
    • WARNING!! If the PSI is entered manually, the Diameters and Area will be set to 0 and disabled. Clearing the PSI will allow reentry to those fields (Red Box Figure 10).
