Overview
Product Categories serve as the highest level of organization for precast concrete products in Concrete Vision. At this level, it is determined whether a piece mark within the category will require a piece mark ticket (drawing) to be released to production, as well as whether the product category is classified as Hollowcore.
Accessing the Screen
Navigate to Configuration > Product Categories from the main menu (Figure 1).

Using the Product Categories Screen
The Product Categories screen (Figure 2) offers the following functions:
- Add a new category.
- Edit an existing category.
- Delete a category.
- Export the displayed category list to Excel.
- Export the displayed category list as a PDF.

| Large Description | Large description of product category for reports with longer character count. |
| Small Description | Brief description of product category for reports with shorter character count. |
| Type | Architectural, Hollowcore, Structural, Transportation, Underground, Utility, or Other? This is not to be confused with Product Types. |
| Unit | Unit of measure used in the product category. |
| Is Hollowcore | Does the product Category contain hollowcore pieces? |
| PDF Req | Is a piece mark ticket (drawing) required to be released to production? |
| PDF Folder | Enterprise Clients Only: File path to piece mark drawing. |
| Misc. Field 1 | Used for custom code. |
| Misc. Field 2 | Used for custom code. |
| Misc. Field 3 | Used for custom code. |
| Take-Off Layout | Layout appearance of Take-Off report. |
| Order By | Order the product category appears in a list of categories. |
| Active | Is the product category active in Concrete Vision? |
Sorting and Filtering the Product Categories Screen
To filter data by specific criteria:
- Locate the filter icon - Look for the small funnel icon to the right of any column heading (Blue box, Figure 2)
- Click the filter icon - A dropdown menu will appear with the available filtering options. Keep in mind that the filter conditions vary depending on the column selected.
- Select your criteria - Choose from available values or enter custom search terms (Red box, Figure 3)
- Apply the filter - The table will automatically update to show only matching results

Adding a New Product Category
On the Product Categories screen (Figure 2):
- Click the Add New Record button (Green box, Figure 2) in the top left of the screen.
- In the Add New popup window (Figure 4), complete the fields, dropdown selections, and check box options.
- Click the Save button (Green box, Figure 4).

Editing a Product Category
On the Product Categories screen (Figure 2):
- Click the Edit icon (Yellow box, Figure 2) next to the product category to edit.
- In the Edit popup window, revise category settings as needed.
- Click the Save button (Green button, Figure 5).

Deleting a Product Category
On the Product Categories screen (Figure 2):
- Click the X icon (Red box, Figure 2) next to the product category to delete.
- In the confirmation popup, click the Ok button (Figure 6).
NOTE: Product Categories in use cannot be deleted. Instead of deleting a Product Category, it is recommended the Category be set to Inactive by unchecking the Active checkbox.

Audit Information
Tracking Changes
Click the info icon (i) next to any Product Category to view: (Black box, Figure 2)
- Who created the record and when
- Who last modified the record and when
- Complete change history for accountability

Export Product Category List to Excel
On the Product Categories screen (Figure 2):
- Sort the Category list using the headings in the table (blue box in Figure 2).
- Click the Export for PDF button (Purple box, Figure 2).

- Click the Export for Excel button (Purple box, Figure 2).
