Production Material Categories

You can access the Materials Categories setup screen from "Accounting > Production Material Setup > Material Categories," as shown below:

This will bring you to the list screen shown below.  From this screen, you can add a new category, edit an existing category, or delete an existing category (provided the category is not currently assigned to a material item, a material assembly or is a top-level category with sub-categories assigned to it (the blue highlight indicates it's a top-level category)).

The Add/Edit screen allows you to add a new category or edit an existing category.  The fields are described below:

• Parent - Allows you to specify the parent category, if applicable.
• Description - A brief description of the material category.  This field is required.
• Order By - Sets the ordering of the category for drop down lists throughout the system.
• Is Assembly - This controls what screen (Material Assemblies or Material Items), this category will show up in.
• Is Rebar - Allows you to flag this category as "Rebar" (used to filter down material in some reports).
• Is Bent Bar - Allows you to flag this category as "Bent Bar" (used to filter down material in some reports).
• Active - Allows you to change the active status of a category.  Only active categories will show up in filters and when adding new items/assemblies.
